A Deep Dive Into Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHA's)

A Deep Dive Into Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHA's)

Let's Decode Alpha Hydroxy Acids

First off, acids are not as scary as they sound, they are safe to use at home several times a week and they are derived from natural ingredients like flowers, corn and sugarcane. Acids in skincare are used primarily for exfoliating, cleansing and hydrating. Everyone can benefit from adding an AHA into their night time skin care routine.

Remember that AHA's can cause sensitivity to the sun and should therefore only be used at night. Sunscreen should be applied in the morning (as always).

GLYCOLIC ACID

  • Improves fine lines and wrinkles
  • Improves hyperpigmentation and skin texture over time
  • May reduce the look of large pores
  • Increases collagen production
  • Brings an overall brightness to the complexion

This is the strongest of the AHA's and it also has the most research to back up it's effectiveness.

Skin Match - all except sensitive skin, do not over-use (a few times a week is perfect).

LACTIC ACID

  • Improves fine lines and wrinkles
  • Exfoliates skin and improves texture
  • Increases collagen production
  • Improves hydration and may improve skin microbiome
  • Gentler than Glycolic Acid, but still very effective

  • This is your answer to clearer, brighter skin if acne is also your skin concern

If You Want ALL the Acids

The MicroDermabrasion Facial utilizes a blend of six different AHAs, plus probiotics, volcanic ash, and bamboo extract which provides two types of exfoliation. The physical exfoliants gently buff away dead skin cells while the AHA blend, including glycolic acid, provides a deeper level of exfoliation.

This is an advanced treatment that should only be used 1-2/week!
